Imagine a region in the Lone Star State that offers you miles of natural beauty, recreational areas, and activity options including camping, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, motorcycling, bird-watching, and bicycling. There are caverns, castles, aquariums, river runs, scenic drives, and Stonehenge II. In addition, quaint towns and large cities dot the area. The terrain is marked by wooded canyons cut by spring-fed rivers. If this appeals to you, then head your RV to the Texas Hill Country.
Several cities brag about being a gateway into the Texas Hill Country. Stop at one of the many arts festivals on Old Pecan Street in Austin and visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. San Antonio serves as the south gate and is the seventh largest city in the United States with a rich history and a vibrant present. The center of downtown is the Alamo. Stroll the famous River Walk. One of the Texas Hill Country’s western gateways is Junction, which has more flowing streams than any other Texas county with year-round fishing. In fact, RVing in Texas Hill Country is a comfortable year-round activity. Join thousands of winter Texans or plan a visit any time of the year.
You could spend your entire visit to the Hill Country by touring the charming towns within the region. Don’t miss the Apple Festival in Medina, the Lavender Festival in Blanco, or the turning of the Lost Maples in Vanderpool. Bandera is the self-proclaimed Cowboy Capital of the World. Drop in and prove it for yourself.
Hunters and animal lovers find the Hill Country especially inviting. More than 165 species of mammals are native to the state as well as 213 species of reptiles and amphibians. Texas also hosts the greatest diversity of bird life in the United States — approximately 600 species in all.
While enjoying the Southern hospitality, natural resources, and historic venues in the Texas Hill Country, you’ll need a home base. Fortunately for you, there are many highly rated Good Sam Parks.
