In Late Fall 2011 Highways, Camping World and Good Sam Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis suggested combining the Good Sam Club and the President’s Club into a new and expanded Good Sam Club. Members would have one club, one card and one membership fee and would enjoy all the benefits of both clubs and more. Member response was instant and overwhelmingly positive, so the decision was made to combine the two clubs. Now ALL members can enjoy ALL the discounts and benefits offered by the Good Sam Club AND President’s Club for one low price. Details will be arriving in your mailbox and/or email inbox in the next few days.

In the meantime, here are some details:

Over 1 Million Members Strong!!
President’s Club no longer exists. The Camping World buyers club is now part of Good Sam Club as an added benefit to Good Sam Club members. All prior President’s Club members are now Good Sam Club members and they’ll be receiving a membership card in the next few days. This means the Good Sam Club is now over 1 million members strong, which allows the Club extra leverage when sourcing new benefits!

Pricing
The new membership fee will be the same price to join the Club or to renew your membership! A 1-year membership is $25. If you sign up for automatic renewal or join for a 3-year term the membership price is $20 per year. It’s the same when renewing your membership. $25 for a 1-year membership term. Or, if you sign up for automatic renewal or renew for a 3-year term the membership price is only $20 per year!

Good Sam Club Life Members
Good Sam Life members dues are paid for life and that hasn’t changed. Life members will not have any additional fees due to the new benefits added to the Good Sam Club. Life members will continue to receive Camping World club pricing now as part of the Good Sam Club benefits.

Benefits
You can always find the latest membership benefits when you sign in using your online Good Sam Club account and view the Member Benefits section. If you’re not registered online, registering is easy and only takes a few minutes. Just be sure to have your Good Sam member number handy.

Other Changes
In addition to receiving many new club benefits, you will continue to receive your subscription to Highways magazine as we know how much members value this subscription. There are five issues of Highways magazine planned for 2012! The tentative schedule has those issues arriving to members in the following months: February, April, June, August, and October. Because the schedule is subject to change, we’ll keep the latest schedule available to you at GoodSamClub.com/Highways.

And, new for 2012, as a supplement to Highways, an insert called Hi–Way Herald is being introduced to be distributed in a few of the Camping World flyers. They’ll be packed with even more chapter news and club events. So look for the New Hi-Way Herald insert in select Camping World flyers. Can’t wait to view the latest news about the club? You can also view it online at GoodSamClub.com/HiWayHerald.

We are also lifetime members, how will this change our Presidents club dues? We have been members for 30+ years.

  2. D Hyatt says:

Ditto regarding Lifetime Good Sam members and long time Presidents Club members.

  3. Kenneth Brooks says:

I am a life member of Good Sam and a President’s Club member of Camping World. Since I don’t pay additional dues to Good Sam, will there be a yearly charge now to enjoy the benefits of Camping World Presidents Club or will it be included in my life membership?

  4. Good Sam says:

We understand your concern about your life memberships. We do want you to know that your Good Sam life membership now also provides you a life membership to what was previously the President’s Club. Since the two clubs have combined into one club, you will now be able to enjoy both the benefits of the Good Sam Club and the President’s Club for life!! And don’t worry – you will continue to receive that highest level of Good Sam Club benefits including extra coupons and extra benefits!

Also, we want to assure you that you will be receiving further details about your personal memberships within the next week via your email inbox. To ensure that you’re signed up to receive Good Sam Club emails, check your Communication Preferences located in your online profile.

In the meantime, to view benefits specific to your membership sign in using your online Good Sam Club account and view the Member Benefits section. If you’re not registered online, registering is easy and only takes a few minutes. Just be sure to have your Good Sam member number handy.

We are still waiting for the Flyinig J application you promisedin July of 2011. we are currently in need of it and were told we would have the membership app before january so it would be effective in January. had to pay a small fortune more because we wouldn’t fit in any lanes but trucks, and didn’t have a new discount card yet. will this program be in effect so we can use it for the Phoenix rally?
Also, your people don’t have the courtesy to get back to people who wanted to present a seminar in March. first it was september,, then October, then november. it is now january, and i don’t care to do it, since i haven’t had any notice to prepare. that’s just not the way to do business. a simple email or call to say no would have sufficed. Marcus made a lot of promises in July, it’s a shame the club and him are not living up to most of them. he is welcome to get in touch with me personally at the above email. he should remember me. back stage at Vince Gill????

  6. Shannon McClurg says:

by the way. we are charter lifetime, and that was supposed to mean something.

  7. Gary Lumley says:

I’ve been a life member with Good Sam for a number of years. I would like to get the benefits from Pilot and Flying J, but I don’t think these benefits should be attached to a credit card. That I do not need or want.

  8. Good Sam says:

Gary – thank you for reaching out to us about your concerns. Just to clarify, the new Pilot Flying J RV Plus Card is different from a regular credit card. This card must be paid off each month unlike regular credit cards which have revolving debt. Therefore, you will be able to receive the fuel discounts without accruing interest charges on your purchases.

With this charge card, as a Good Sam life member you will receive the deepest discount on fuel. To view the discount specific to your membership level, simply click the link below and log into your Good Sam Club online account. Hope this helps to clarify. Thanks for being a Good Sam life member!

I agree with Gary Lumley, Jan. 5, 2012 @2:01pm that we don’t need a credit card to get the benefits of Pilot & Flying J especially when we don’t want or need an extra Credit Card. These benefits should be connected with the orginial ‘Good Sam’ card as it is. We should be able to pay cash at check out and not be bothered with a credit card for folks that don’t use credit cards. Also, am I to understand that being a Life Member of Good Sam what with the combining of the President Club and Good Sam that we do not have to pay any fee at all for the President Club card?? By the way I beleive that both cards have different numbers on them, how will you work that? Will there be two different cards with one correct number or one card showing the Good Sam & President Club logols on one card with the Good Sam number?

  11. George B says:

Where is the overwhelming positive response GS claims to have received? It certainly isn’t the case in the comments here. Here’s a tip to GS management: Don’t throw out a new program that changes conditions for pre-paid members, before you can explain the changes. All I’ve read from GS is wait until next week and everything will be explained. What I’ve read from members are simple questions that GS should answer right now. One member commented they renewed GS and CW the end of 2011. What’s up with that GS? You knew months before of the merge and yet you were still selling CW memberships? Had GS handled this well, there would be no confusion. Obviously that isn’t the case. Whenever a corporation claims to be doing its members a favor by downsizing …. watch out!

  12. Mike Suba says:

We are Lifetime Good Sam members, and Lifetime Coast to Coast members. Our Motor Home magazine is up for renewal. Since you are now combined, do we need to pay for our subscription? What are the magazine benefits for combined memberships?

  13. Good Sam says:

Just to provide additional clarification, we wanted you all to know that the Pilot Flying J RV Plus Card is different from a regular credit card. This card must be paid off each month unlike regular credit cards which have revolving debt. Therefore, you will be able to receive the fuel discounts without accruing interest charges on your purchases.

We appreciate your feedback and are currently in the process of making changes to our website to help explain this new program. Thanks for being Good Sam members and for your patience during this transition period.

  14. Good Sam says:

There have been several questions relating to the NEW & Expanded Good Sam Club, and as communicated, we will be sending postal mail as well as a very important email announcement about these changes. To ensure that you receive the important announcement email, be sure you’re signed up to receive the Good Sam Insider eBulletins by checking your communication preferences located in your online member profile.

In the meantime, you can view the new benefits online. if you would like to view benefits specific to your personal membership level, sign in and visit the Member Benefits section of our website.

  15. Gregory Cassini says:

What members were polled to receive the overwhelming positive response? I am a President’s Club member, Coast to Coast member and Good Sam member. If you give Good Sam members the President’s Club discount then President’s Club members that belong to both should receive a rebate on their President’s Club membership. Maybe Stan Chesley in Cincinnati would be interested in filing a class-action law suit on behalf of President’s Club members to recoup the overpayments.

  16. Steve Phillips says:

WELL,you NEVER really answered about US Members that DON’T WANT ANOTHER FUEL CREDIT CARD?? Being Members,we should STILL receive the Discount Right??? ALOT of us are wondering whats goin on at the Top Now???

  17. Downsizing seems to be what you are doing. I was at Camping World a few weeks ago, and they said nothing about all this combining, although the handwriting has been on the wall since Camping World became the Head Dog. I don’t quite understand what is going on with the fuel card. Do I understand that I have to charge to a special fuel card to get a discount, or can I still use my MC, with the GS card authorizing the discount?

  18. bob kotowski says:

I don’t have any problem with getting a special card in order to get the fuel discount, although the comments suggesting that our Good Sam cards should be sufficient to get us the discount are valid.

But, I DO have a problem with Pilot/Flying J requiring me to give them my Social Security number. That’s just begging for someone to steal my identity. And SSNs shouldn’t be used for ID purposes anyway. Besides, they already ask for my Good Sam member number, which should be enough for ID purposes.

  19. Good Sam says:

We understand that there are questions about the new fuel discount. We want you to know that we appreciate your feedback and hope that we can provide some clarification for you. The new benefit is available for all Good Sam members to enjoy.

In order to take advantage of these savings, you’ll simply need to apply online for your Pilot Flying J RV Plus Card, and use this charge card to pay for your fuel charges at Pilot Flying J. The use of the RV Plus Card is what allows Pilot Flying J to extend the savings. If you paid with cash or your personal credit/debit card, then Pilot Flying J would have no way of identifying you in their system in order to offer the savings. The only holders of the RV Plus Card will be Good Sam members which allows Pilot Flying J a way to offer the savings from a systems standpoint…meaning, when the RV Plus Card is swiped at a pump then Pilot Flying J’s systems recognize those users as Good Sam members. Since there’s no way to swipe your Good Sam member card at the pump, then Pilot Flying J was not able to offer that as an option. If you would like more information on the program, click here.

Regarding the need for social security number, this is a requirement from Pilot Flying J in order to extend the credit via the RV Plus Card. This is not a Good Sam Club requirement, and Good Sam Club will not have visibility to any confidential information provided to Pilot Flying J. If you’re uncomfortable providing your social security number online, you can also contact Pilot Flying J at 1-855-4RV-PLUS (1-855-478-7587) to apply via phone. This is not a credit card as payment is due in full each month. Payments may be made online or through an automatic-debit payment.

Additionally, we understand that there may be some who, for various reasons, do not want to participate in the program. As with every benefit, we understand that every member has individual needs and wants, and it’s each individual member’s choice whether or not they wish to participate is this benefit.

Thank you for being Good Sam members!

  20. William Hastings says:

I just found out about the merger and am presently on the road and have sold my house so the mailing address Camping World has may not be valid, I have not received any info on transferring to the new card, will campgrounds accept my Presidents Club card? as I understand it I will receive a new card from Good Sam is this correct.

    W Hastings

  21. Good Sam says:

William – Hope you’re enjoying your travel. You will actually need to use your Good Sam membership card in order to receive the discounts at Good Sam RV Parks as all President’s Club members have been assigned new member numbers. You can retrieve your new member number by calling Member Services at 1-800-234-3450. When you call, they will be able to look you up by name and zip code.

Once you receive this number, you can actually print off a temporary card online. To do this, you will simply need to register for an online Good Sam Club account which will create a member profile and allow you full access to GoodSamClub.com. After creating your online account, simply to go “My Profile” and click “Print a Temporary Membership Card“.

Once this is done, you’re all set to enjoy your campground discount as well as all of the benefits available on GoodSamClub.com.

  22. Will Hayes says:

Great job everybody,I think your doing just great on these changes,I know they will all turn out just fine;….settle down everyone and have a good time. You’re doing a fine job Marcus, keep up the good work. Eventually everyone will see how much better it will be! I’m a lifetime member, but I can’t afford to buy an RV,but I still love to share in all the dreams of rolling these beautiful highways in this beautiful country, and living vicariously with the good people who are blessed to be doing just that! Love ya’ all,and keep up the good work…Marcus & crew :)

  23. Good Sam says:

Will – thank you so much for your encouraging words and thanks for being a Good Sam life member! We hope you’re able to get an RV someday and make your dreams a reality.

  24. Larry Hutto says:

Most credit card transactions require the retailer to pay a fee to the credit card company. This stuff is not free from Visa, mastercard, etc.
By using their own card but making it pay as you go with no credit beyond the billing period, they can eliminate the fees from visa and mastercard and pass part of that savings on to the customer , take some for themselves, while also creating your loyalty to the brand . This sounds like a win win here. The initial discount is 5 cents as I read it which is 2 cents higher than in the past with the other fuel cards. So, I must say it all seems like a fair deal to me.

  25. danny moran says:

i’m a life member and a three year prepaid pres. club member also. i called the good sam phone # and was told they don’t give refunds. but i am still getting the pres. club for free. the woman didn’t want to understand that it is not free to me until after july 2014.

  26. Stacy Hughes says:
