Cleaning that awning just got easier with the use of a household-cleaning item called a Swiffer. You can clean both sides the awning rather easily, and if the pad get dry, just add a little household cleaner.

Great idea! My wife thought of this, so I must give credit where credit is due.

Editor’s note: To make sure a household cleaner is safe to use on the awning material, test it in an inconspicuous place on the awning before using it.

  1. MY good sams extended service plan THAT I PURCHASES FOR $1,497.41, JUNE O7,2012 FOR 1 YEAR AT DUSTY’S CAMPING WORLD IN BARTOW, FLORIDA ,HAS A LARGE LETTERED ADVERTISEMENT THAT SAYS WE DO NOT PASS THE BUCK SAVE MONEY ON RV REPAIRS THAT IS THE TRUTH.
ANOTHER QUESTION AND ANSWER AD “QUESTION OK. MY RV IS FIXED AND READY TO GO. WHO PAYS THE BILL? WE DO, EVEN IF IT’S FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS (WHICH IT CAN BE FOR A BLOWN ENGINE)”
THEY SEND AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER OUT AND HE IS THE PERSON WHO GIVES THE APPROVAL TO MAKE THE REPAIR. WELL THAT IS A FACT AND I AM A VERY UNHAPPY WIDOW WITH THE GOOD SAMS INSURANCE ADJUSTER, WHO WAS NOT WITH ME ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I DID THE BEST I COULD TO GET TOO A SAFE SPOT WHEN THE RV STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND STOPPED. THE ADJUSTER CAME AND DENIED MY REPAIR AND I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF JUST BECAUSE I AM A WIDOW, I AM ELDERLY AND ALONE. MY BEAUTIFUL 2003 WINNEBAGO ADVENTURE 33′ WHICH HAS BEEN VERY WELL METICULOUSLY SERVICED FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT FROM LE MASA RV IN TAMPA, FLORIDA. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED ON HOW I HAVE BEEN TREATED PLEASE EMAIL ME. I AM GOING TO LET ALL WIDOWS KNOW IN THE WORLD THAT ARE STILL DRIVING THEIR RV KNOW HOW I HAVE BEEN TREATED . THE GOOD SAMS EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN SO FAR IS NO! NO! GOOD. PLEASE READ ALL THE PRINTED WORDS ! READ AND READ IT AGAIN BEFORE YOU BUY THE PLAN AND THINK YOU SHOULD BE COVERED. AND TAKE A PLANNED TRIP IN YOUR RV. IN THE MOTORHOME AD ITEM NUMBER SIX PRINTED SHOWS THE ENGINE REPAIR AMOUNT OF $6,953.26 TO COVER THE BREAK DOWN IS ONLY IF THE ADJUSTER APPROVES IT. THEY LET ME DOWN AND I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL RV WITH NO ENGINE SITTING AT A WORKHORSE DEALER . I HAVE BEEN A GOOD SAMS MEMBER ON AND OFF FOR OVER 25 YEARS I TRUSTED THE ADS AND IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN I WAS PROTECTED WITH THE PLAN. WHEN YOUR CAPTAIN HUSBAND IS NO LONGER HERE. YOU HAVE TO TAKE OVER AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS COVERED IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG. WELL I DID JUST THAT, BUT LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND MY RV. NOW WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED YOUR HELP TO RIGHT THIS WRONG BEFORE I AM FORCED TO GET LEGAL HELP AND REACH OUT FOR SUPPORT .
    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
    SHERRY PANACCIONE

  2. John Herring says:

    Hey Good Sam!

What gives here? The lady probably didn’t give the complete story, but it would be nice to hear your side. Am I wasting money with my Good Sam insurance?

  3. Dick Reynolds says:

When we bought our 5th wheel we were warrned to advoide the Good Sam’s Insurance just because of what Sherry was talking about. It looks like I got good advice.

  4. Kim Zitterkob says:

I did not buy Good Sam’s insurance, however I have had my share of insurance problems in the past and I can highly reccomend contacting the insurance commissioner in your home state. I have had several interactions with the Oklahoma Insurance Commission and most of the time I was very satisifed. Always check the Better Business Bureau before you buy insurance. Good luck.

  5. T. Sawtelle says:

Have good Sam Ins. Had a problem w/ full slide on driver side. Total cost covered by insurance, except the cost of having the parts next day delivered. The repair was comlpeted by Camping World in Statesville.

  6. Good Sam says:

Sherry – please accept our most sincere apologies on this unfortunate experience. We hate to hear of our members having trouble on the roads and especially when they feel Good Sam has let them down. We would like to do some investigation into this issue as this is not the rule in how Good Sam Extended Warranty Service operates. Please email chehner@goodsamfamily.com along with your member and policy information, and we will check into this right away. Rest assured that we will do everything possible to take care of your situation. Thank you for your patience as we do research.

  7. Good Sam says:

    T. We’re so glad that Good Sam and Camping World were able to take care your slide out issue. Thanks for sharing this valuable member feedback!

  8. Carl Beckwith says:

Regarding the new discount gas program at Pilot and Flying J:

    It is a farce!

First, you say it is “among the biggest money-savers for RVers”. Huh? At 3 cents a gallon, the “discount” is less than 1%, at current fuel prices! This is a big money saver? However, I would still have participated, if not for my second concern.

Second, having to use the Pilot Flying J Plus Card would be a pain. I do not need one more gasoline credit card to pay off every month! This is a deal breaker. The old system, where we inserted the Flying J card and then inserted our choice of credit card, was much more practical.

  9. Good Sam says:

Carl – we understand that not every member will want to utilize the new Pilot Flying J discount. Our intentions are to continue to add value to every membership, so this benefit was made available for any who choose to take advantage of it. We hope you’ll continue to take advantage of the many additional member benefits such as your 10% savings at Good Sam RV Parks and your Camping World discounts. Thanks for being a Good Sam member!

  10. Janet says:

With the higher cost of gas and RV parks raising prices of camp grounds the offer of 10% off of Good Sam Parks is getting where it is not a savings anymore. And I agree about Pilot Flying J card to save 3% on gas is a joke. They want very important personal info. just to get 3% off ! Not worth it.
