Maine Good Sam Club conducts charity raffle

LIMINGTON, Maine — The Maine Good Sam Club has launched its second RV Samaritan Quilt Raffle to benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, the group announced today.
“In 2011, we brought a huge smile on the face of Greg Sirpis, a board member of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, when we presented him with a check for $ 1,200 for the cause he and so many others work so hard to support,” said State Director Diane Qualey.
“It looks like he’s going to be happily accepting another check for those youngsters in need again this year,” she added. “Even before the ink had dried on last year’s check, volunteer Good Sam Quilters from throughout New England and Atlantic Canada informed me that they were going to ‘do it again’ in 2012.’
The sewing Good Sam Family members requested and received specially acquired fabric with RVs in the pattern. Each applied there own creative ‘quilting magic’ to make a unique square to build this years RV Samaritan quilt.
Raffle tickets are being distributed to each of Maine’s Good Sam Chapter members for sale in their community. Locally, the tickets are being are being sold for $1 each or six for $5.
“We invite you to asks a Good Sam Chapter member about the many other projects they undertake, and the great time they have enjoying the RV lifestyle together,” said Qualey.
Other people outside of Maine can join in the summer of the samaritan spirit project by obtaining raffle tickets online by clicking here. People can purchase 25 tickets for $20.
The winning ticket will be drawn during closing ceremonies at the 2012 Samboree RV rally in Fryeburg, Maine, Sept. 9.
