Clementz's PHO_860001720_1Clementz’s Northcounty Campground and Cabins in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula lets visitors enjoy a lush, rustic setting without giving up the amenities that keep RVers comfortable. Offering full-hookup sites as well as spaces with water and electric, the 50-site resort has modern restrooms and showers, a laundry facility and book exchange for wiling away the hours with a good novel.

Families and groups will feel welcome at the enclosed pavilion, with eight picnic tables, or on the basketball or volleyball courts. Set the kids loose on the play area or try your hand at yooper-shoes, the Polish version of horseshoes.

If you feel like exploring nature, set out on the nature trail that winds through the 40 acres of surrounding woods, with stands of poplars and wildlife that ranges from blue birds to busy hummingbird moths.

Clementz's PHO_860001720_2The nearby town of Newberry is home to Oswald’s Bear Ranch, where 29 bears live in large enclosures and can be viewed by visitors. Ready to try out that new set of clubs? Take a few strokes at the Newberry Country Club’s 18-hole course.

Adventurous travelers can go agate hunting on the shores of Lake Superior, just a half-hour away. Also on the shores of Superior, in the town of Paradise, is the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, where displays on the Edmund Fitzgerald and other famous maritime disasters shed light on the challenges faced by intrepid mariners.

During winter, visitors can hit the nearby snowmobile and cross country skiing trails, which are groomed for safe enjoyment.
