Good Sam Goes to Bat
When Rich Milgrom discovered that his Class A motorhome was severely out of alignment, the Texas Good Sam member took up the matter with the manufacturers of his RV and its chassis. When neither one stepped up to the plate, Action Line got into the game as referee.
We purchased a new Forest River Georgetown Class A motorhome in January 2012. When we noticed that the front tires showed significant wear at 14,000 miles, I had the alignment checked. The technician told me that both tires were toed in 1 inch, which he said was an unheard of amount. The rear tires looked as good as new.
On October 17, 2013, I spoke to Steve at Forest River customer service, and he said he wasn’t able to do anything to help because our coach was out of warranty. He also said it was a Ford problem because Ford does the alignment at the time of manufacture.
I contacted Ford the same day and received a voice-mail answer saying Ford doesn’t have an alignment warranty unless there’s a parts failure. The message also said that Ford chassis are aligned when they leave the factory, and Forest River is advised to realign each one after the “house” is put on because the weight distribution changes.
Since then I’ve called Forest River twice and left messages both times. To date, I haven’t received any return calls. Any help from Action Line would be greatly appreciated.
