Slow Down and Relax at Thunder Bay

In today’s tumultuous world, our lives seem to be on fast-forward, making it easy to overlook life’s simple pleasures and experiences. Thunder Bay Resort and RV Park is a big-rig friendly full-hookup RV Park in the northeast quadrant of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, affectionately referred to as the “Sunrise Side” of the state, with 23 fully paved sites and access roads. Poised along the Resort’s golf course, each RV site features wood pads for your RV or trailer’s jacks, a metal patio table with four chairs, 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric hookups, city water and city sewer connections. Fully self-contained class B, class C, travel trailers, fifth wheels and class A’s will find generous sites, nicely landscaped and mowed. It’s a short walk from the RV Park to the Clubhouse Grill offering breakfast, lunch and dinner daily throughout the summer season. One of the best pizzas in the state and other specialties and daily specials complement the menu. A common campfire area, BBQ canopy and horseshoe pits serves visitors and is a great place to meet other RVers in the park. Need to stay in touch while you are visiting? The resort offers free WI-FI that is available in the RV park, clubhouse and all lodging units.
There are many compelling reasons to visit this resort’s RV Park while touring Northern Lower Michigan in your motor home or travel trailer. On top of that list would be to take advantage of the ELK Viewing Dinner Ride. Here, guests will embark on an incredible journey as massive Percheron draft horses escort you through alluring landscapes to witness majestic Michigan Elk. Following this excitement, guests cozy up fireside to enjoy a delicious 5-course meal, delightful story telling, and wine tasting from the region’s own Sunrise Side Wine and Hops Trail.
Next on that list—golf! A challenging 18-hole course offering beauty and premiere playability make Thunder Bay Resort one of Northern Michigan’s best golf values. Additionally, guests can create and customize deluxe stay-and-play packages featuring several of the nation’s “Top 25” public courses including Black Lake Golf Club and Elk Ridge.

The park is conveniently located off of Michigan Highway 32, Take exit 282 of US Interstate I-75 at Gaylord going east on M-32 just under 60 miles to the resort. From the east side, traveling on US-23 north or south along Lake Huron turn west in downtown Alpena on to M-32 going west 22 miles to get to the resort at 28700 M-32, Hillman, Michigan 49846.
